During most of August I have been taking part in the Pokémon Indigo league readathon and I’ve read 8 books in 3 weeks, which is amazing because since the beginning of June till the readathon started on August 14th, I’d only managed 11 of books. So in the last 3 weeks I’ve read a lot more than usual, and I couldn’t be happier.
I think the read-a-thon has made me more focused, and i’ve really knuckled down and not let myself get as distracted as I can be normally. I made a TBR which meant I wasn’t umming and ahhing about what to read and while there have been a few changes to the TBR, it was natural choices, not the days I end up normally choosing.
I found myself wishing that I could spend every month in a read-a-thon. So I thought, why not? I’ve set up some basic rules for myself and aim to read 8 books a month, so a little less than the 8 in 3 weeks, but it gives me some room if something comes up, or if I can read more, then fantastic. One of them will be my book club book, and at least one will come from books I’ve bought.
With the ReadThemAllThon there was a challenge to level up your pokémon which was part of the reason I felt so focused, so I’m still going to use the same points premise (1 point per 10 pages read, 20 points completion bonus and 20 points for review bonus), but instead of levelling up pokemon, if I reach 500 number of points I will reward myself with something yet to be decided.
Each Month will have a theme that I will try to get as many books to fit into, so here’s the next years worth of themes.
